One way we declare our faith as Christians is by being baptised in water. In November we had many hands go up when the opportunity to be baptised was presented, so one Sunday after our normal morning church we had a very special baptism service.
Thirty two of our young people took the stage and talked publicly about their faith. They shared with the church how they believe in Jesus and why they wanted to be baptised.
Pastor Thoeun and Tonet took the group to the river (which was just under our building) to pray with each individually and baptise them. The children have an amazing faith, the Bible speaks about the faith of a child, seeing and hearing these young ones share about their faith in ways that are obviously very real to them was very encouraging.
The weekly community outreach is an activity of Sovanapoom Church which has been ongoing since 2002. This event every Sunday morning takes place at 7am within the auditorium of the Community Centre which the church uses on Sundays. Welcoming the community in all of the Sovanapoom students participate, with up to 2,800 people from the local area also attending from small babies with their mothers to old grandfathers and grandmothers. This is always a special time which is used for teaching good habits, hygiene and care for one another. These photos are from 2007, updates can be found on our Facebook page under Sovanapoom Care.
