Jeremiah first joined us at Sovanapoom in 1999.  Jeremiah’s father had passed away and his mother was away in the city working to try to provide for her family.  So at Jeremiah and his older brother Tree were fending for themselves on the street.  Surviving on whatever scraps they could find, both boys were very skinny and because Jeremiah was barely more than a baby at that time he was dying, from lack of food and love.  We found the boys and took them in loving them and gradually bringing Jeremiah back into good health.

It was a slow process over a period of years for Jeremiah’s little body to totally recover from the condition he was in.  Even four years after he joined us his skin would often still break out in boils as his blood was rejuvenating from the sickly condition he had been in.

Jeremiah’s original name was Voer but recently he chose to change it to Jeremiah after his favourite biblical prophet.  He is now a healthy and strong boy who loves acrobatics, music and making new friends. Jeremiah is a very compassionate, caring and friendly boy; he often sees people in need in his community and asks us to help them, he knows the pain of living with out.

Jeremiah is particularly gifted musically.  His main talent is with percussion as a drummer, he is also learning guitar and the keyboard and has a lovely singing voice.  Jeremiah has a real desire to please and serve God with his life.  He has a lot of potential to grow up into a leader amongst his peers and in his country.
