An important focus of the work at Sovanapoom is vocational training. We believe that it is imperative to provide care and support not only for the children but also providing assistance as the trainees grow up into young adults. Without such vocational training or the benefits of the input they have received as children would be limited if we put them back on the street without adequately equipping these young people for their futures.
All trainees at Sovanapoom will be educated and provided with the knowledge and tools should they desire and be called as church ministers. Not only equipped spiritually but we believe a rounded education is necessary that it is beneficial for even church ministers to also have a trade, as did the Apostle Paul. The young men, have been in training as apprentice builders under the guidance of John (one of his previous vocations was in construction). They are learning with hands-on experience as they work on the construction of our new building and other construction projects both locally and further abroad in Cambodia. Not to be outdone, the young women of Sovanapoom are training in various pursuits. Vocations represented include beauticians, administration assistant, seamstress, domestic workers and teachers.
